Any rover experts out there (mgtf prob)
Hi all I hope some one can shed some light on this. The missuses MGTF keeps displaying the engine malfunction light now and again, the engine seems
ton run fine though. Ive plugged in to the obd socket and read the fault codes and they are p301 (cylinder 1 missfire detected) and p0170 (fuel trim
bank 1). Now ive changed the plugs, leads and both coil packs but the light still pops up now and again. Ive had a look on the rover forums for these
codes and it suggests doing what ive already done. The rover forum also mentioned checking for leaks on the inlet and exhaust manifolds or pipes ect
and also check the evap purge valve and canister.
After looking at the live data from the engine im still not sure. when the ngine was running for a bit the live data was showing "open loop due
to system fault" then not long after the light came on again. At the same time the % value on the fuel trim stayed at 0.
Here are a few shots of the screen, sorry i know the pics are crap as there was a lot of glare from the sun.

Could it be an electrical fault still?
Any help would be great

British Trident is the man you want but I would check the inlet manifold gasket, could be leaking water into the manifold /port. Fairly common problem
on the K series

Could be dodgy wiring to the injector, or the injector is partially blocked.

Im trying to work out if the diagnostic code for fuel trim bank 1(p0170) means for cylinder 1 only or whether it covers all four on this engine cos
when Ive looked through the live data it doesnt show a bank 3 or 4?
Also how does the ecu know that it was a missfire on cylinder 1. My theory is the ecu must use info from the oxygen sensors but they are both down
stream of the manifold so I would think it wouldnt know which pot had a hiccup?!
Now after hearing about all the horror stories about headgaskets going on the K series you would think this problem would be a tell tale sign of a
gasket going but since we first bought the car Ive kept a close eye on the coolant level and it aint moved!
