Clutch Diode
I used an extended Fireblade loom for my wiring, I now have an intermittant fault on the neutral light i.e. it does not always work. I have discovered
it is caused by the clutch diode. What does it do and can I remove it and just join the wires together. Barry

I think you can bypass it at the ECU (wire it straight to earth I think), but you will lose the Neutral light altogether.
It does mean that you won't have a clutch dode problem again!

Picture the scene, it is 1997 in Honda design building F7, Japan.
Boss: So team, let's have your status reports. Yoshi, will you start?
Yoshi: Hai, Kusedsi san. I spent all week designing and testing a mysterious diode for the netural light. It is not needed, will cost 300,000 yen
so that one day it will fox a BEC builder.
Not very likley is it.
It you remove it, one of 3 things will happen
1. neutral light will work
2. neutral light will not work
3. as above but loom gets excecively hot, car catches fire, you do not get out in time and die burnt to a crisp.
My advice is to find a circuit diagram and post one here, then the decision to remove or not can be made.
A doide conducts electricity in one direction and if fitted by Honda, there would be a reason.
short it out and you may short out the 12 V supply with consequences in 3. above.

Barry, i have removed mine completely but it does require a few mods to the loom.
However one thing i have noticed is that its worth checking the resistance of the switch as if its intermittent then its a high probability that its
the switch.

The very essence of this site is to ask questions when you are not sure of a subject, then normally a helpful answer follows as has happened on this
thread. I have also done my best to assist others when I am familiar with a problem they have. It is also good to read the light hearted humour in
some replies that sometimes follows which is always taken in good spirit. What we don't need ,02GF74, is smug answers like yours. Once again
thanks you other guys for your replies.

Without wanting to cause an arguement I actually like 02GF74 response and thought it witty and to the point....IMHO

Well the French have had that approach for years when making cars.
