Jumpy fuel sender
When full the fuel gauge displays full, good start. But when it starts to go down the needle pulses towards full. It is possible to be at a quarter
tank and for it to pulse all the way up to full. By pulsing i mean that it doesn't just shoot up but goes a sort of 2 steps up 1 step back 2
steps up... It does not make a difference with the motion of the car.
My thinking is a loose wire but is there perhaps another cause before a take apart the rear to get at the sender to check the earth cable. Not sure if
perhaps the sender is going? It is a float type sender, supplied by mk in the tank when i bought it. It has been fine for 2 years.
As another note, can anyone recommend a fuel sender that is not as eratic as the one from mk? this may be a future upgrade!
Any help, tips, thoughts, suggestions, as always is greatly appreciated!

Could maybe be a loose, dirty connection/earth?
How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

My donner one does that as well, you not alone... I think it's oxide on the track of pot, it was standing for a while out of the fuel tank. I
will take mine out one day and wipe the track over with some meths/petrol on a clean rag, but this job is low on my list...

Update:
I have looked at the connection and all seems present and correct though the problem still occurs, is it possible that the sender is faulty in any
way?

^^ Is the pot/track open, i.e. can you see the wiper contact and the metal track it runs on? This is the bit I will attempt to clean at some point,
maybe you could try this?.. In my case I think I have oxide on the track causing an open circuit..
If you do use a clean lint free cloth and just wipe it over to remove any oxide (with the cloth damped with a bit of meths)..
May not fix it but you have nothing to lose if the sender is currently knackered..
