o/t 206 electrical problem
hi,
just been out to tow my mate home, hes got a 206 and it lost all power on the dual carridgeway. tried to start it and all the lights on the dash go
out and you can just hear the starter buzz, then nothing. when it happened they where driving at 70, then felt like the car wasnt getting enough
petrol, but the car has recently had the coil pack replaced due to a similar breakdown, any tips on where to start and how to diagnose the problem.
cheers for any help.

loss of power
Hi, same thing happened to a mate of mine, turned out it was the alternator that had just decided to faint on him. It gave no warning, all the
dashboard lit up like Blackpool illuminations then everything went dead.

I would check;
Battery
Alternator
Earths
Coils
HT Leads
Fuel
Injectors
If after that you havent found it, then i think its an off the road for three months engine apart kind of project??
Kindest Regards,
Richard.

Battery terminals are the first port of call -- take them off and give them a good clean.
If that dosen't work then do the same. main lead at starter and the main earth lead.

Battery earth leads are very common faults with these cars. They have one that goes to the body and one to the engine both off the negative terminal.

The clamp on the battery earth post of my 306 DTurbo corroded through a couple of years back.
Fitted a brass end and all OK since.
