Thatcham approval?
I could do with getting my immobiliser Thatcham approved.
The unit itself meets the Thatcham cat 2 requirements but I installed it myself. Question is, can I get it approved?
I have the form which needs filling in and stamping by an approved installer
I think I know the answer, which is no, but its worth an ask.
One of the conditions of one of the insurance quotes I got was that it needed to be Thatcham approved - given the quote (£180) it may be worth getting
it done...
Cheers,
David

I think you can get the installation approved by an installer, they can the sign the paperwork. Might be worthwhile asking an installer?

I don't think you can get it installed to the level of which thatcham CAT1 needs to be, in a 7 type car. There was a thread about this a while
back. I seem to remember that a 7 type car is not secure enough to meet thatcham spec.

You cant have cat1 but you can have cat2 as it only requires an electronic immobilser, which mine has.
From the thatcham website:
quote: Category 2
Passenger Cars, LCV, HGV, Plant, Motorcycles
ELECTRONIC/ELECTROMECHANICAL IMMOBILISER
* Immobiliser
Passively set
Isolates a minimum of two operating circuits or systems, or a minimum of one operationally relevant vehicle control unit with coded
intervention
Anyone know any Thatcham approved people around norfolk/cambs/suffolk?

But as the manufacturer you could declare that it meets Thatcham Class II (factory fitted)
Scot's do it better in Kilts.

Hmm interesting. The certification needs stamping with an embossed stamp of a thatcham approved installer
