Here is my 2p's worth.

1. Up to you, MS1 is cheapest and easiest to make. Run it with MSextra and put a few bits on to control the sparks and you are in good shape.

2. US are cheaper (Glens Garage), UK are quicker

3. Depends what you are into. But its a journey.

4. Perfect, you will want internet on it (to download things and such).

5. Trigger wheel with sensor (does Zetec have this already?), water temp sensor, air temp sensor, TPS (if ZX9r doesn't have one). I would get a Wide-band lambda (LC-1 from the US in my case) as otherwise tuning is difficult (easy with lambda probe). You will need a lambda hole in your exhaust.

I don't know anything about Zetec, but others will be along soon.

Are you using the bike carbs as carbs, or as throttle bodies?

If your running them as carbs, you need megajolt, just to control the ignition.

In which cas Rayward was advertising some a few days ago. Trigger wheels are about £20, and you should be able to blag the sensor for next to nothing from the scrappy. plus another £20 for cable and connectors.

Edit, forget the trigger wheel, if you're using the standard flywheel, it has the triggers built in.

Erm don't know I haven't thought that far ahead lol it's a 1995 engine so will have to use a cat, could I get away with carbs for the iva? What's involved with converting what I have to throttle bodies? Told you I was new to this

to use either megasquirt or megajolt, you will need :-

VR Sensor, Trigger Wheel, EDIS4, Coilpack +HT Leads.

if your going megasquirt, you will also need,
Bike Throttle bodies, including Fuel rail and injectors, manifold to suit your engine, high pressure fuel pump, return fuel lines to tank, and possibly a swirl pot+low pressure pump depending on your fuel tank.

if you wanted use megajolt, you'll need the edis etc listed above +bike carbs and manifold, and a suiatble fuel pump

can;t honestly see any reason whay you couldn;t pass IVA on carbs,

rough prices would be:-

EDIS/VR/Coilpack kit £30-£40

HT leads £20

trigger wheel £20-£30

Manifold £100-£120 unless you can build one yourself

bike carbs or throttle bodies £30 -£100

Megasquirt ECU £200-£300

Megajolt ECU £150 ish depending on options fitted

So it's megajolt for carbs and megasquirt for throttle bodies then, I already have the bike carbs so I need to go down the megajolt route then, where do I buy this in kit form? Anywhere in the uk? Thanks for the answers everyone by the way. :-)

if you want to build the kit yourself, you will have to order one from the states, but be aware it uses SMT components now,

there is also a chance you will get stung for import duty, which is happening more often than not nowadays
