S2000 engine management...
...Locost style.
I have initially intended to just use the standard management to keep things cheap. This, however, could be an electrical nightmare so what are my
standalone management options?
I already have a quote from omex which is quite priicey at £875+VAT

cheap is megasquirt but how do you value your time? I cant speak highly enough of Dave Walker aka Emerald he supplies a ood bit of kit and excellent
support

Have a look around your area to see what the rolling road guy likes to map as that makes all the differance.
have you got the full loom ? Id love the chance to wire an s2000 if you where local.

I have a DTA S60Pro on mine. Runs with all the stock sensors and comes with a workable S2000 map.
Others are running Emerald quite successfully.
It's possible to use the stock ECU - plenty do in the US and Australia particularly. I had originally planned on doing it, but in the end went
for the flexibility of an after-market ECU.

How much was your s60 pro?
Do you know of anyone, maybe even yourself, who knows what is needed to get the s2000 running on the standard ecu?
I'm not quite at that stage yet but I want it started in the summer before uni starts again

There's at least one Dax running s2000 on standard management - you could try asking over there:

Sean,
I am presently in the UK for a while, but over from Australia. I have a Aust car (PRB - local 7 replica) being looked after by my dad whilst I am
abroad. It has an F20C with standard ECU. I used standard ECU, with original wiring loom (although stripped out all redundant circuits, reduced
size/altered routing etc) and with standard s2k dash/clock. Provided you have a key/key sensor that is mapped (recognised) by the ECU, then it will
work. A case of locating all earths in the loom - took about 2 hours to get the engine fired before I started stripping out any wires from the
standard loom. Bear in mind though you will always have the engine check light illuminated as you will not be using the air pump (sits in the guard
of the s2k) and a couple other sensors. There are more than a dozen guys in Aust that have achieved the same, some using aftermarket gauges instead
of s2k dash. Email me if you wish.

Sorry I haven't got back earlier - missed the thread update!
My DTA cost about £850-ish if I recall, so not a cheap option. It got up and running relatively painlessly, after swapping some wires around on a few
sensors. Still can't get the Idle Contol Valve to work tho'!

I'm in the same dilemma but have placed an order for the Emerald ECU. I know these are used a lot in rallying Escort MKii with the F20c engine
and are highly recommended. I haven't yet received the unit (£580+VAT) but they told me it comes with adapters to connect to the standard loom.
From what I understand you can do away with the air pump, vacuum tank, vacuum check valve, and vacuum control valve associated with pumping air into
the exhaust to help complete combustion within the CAT. Another bonus with this system is once the car is road legal I can drop the CAT because this
ECU won't require lambda readings from the CAT.
