I'm so Dizzy...

I'm wondering if someone could possibly help. I have a C20XE engined Westifled that i think is slightly underpowered at the moment (135ish bhp@wheels). After a service the mechanic mentioned that we should change the distributor cap and rotor arm as the arm moves about 1cm in each direction, and so does the cap. He said it was a miricle that the car is running.
So off we went to vauxhall, who suggested we need an entire new distributor as the one we have is for a Astra 1.8.
The third person suggests we spoke to suggests we don't do anything with it as its all working as should..

Just wondering what to do now... leave it alone, replace parts or replace the lot.?

suggestions much appreciated.

Many thanks

Craig.

I would get a 2.0L Distributor off ebay and try it with a new cap an darm etc. No harm in trying.

Or, if youre looking to increase power, then maybe fuel injection with bike throttle bodies would give you what youre after.

Kindest Regards,
Richard.

1) don't go to vauxhall garage

2) Take specialist advice as your engine may not be "standard"

ok, so if i rule out Vauxhall, i still have one person saying replace the cap and rotar arm and the other saying don't replace anything.

it just seems everyone has different opinions. lol...

I'll get there in the end..

To be honest, why bother with all the hassle of dizzy caps, rotor arms and points, constant fiddling, electronic is the way to go.
