R1 Fan wiring
I've taken the week off to wire up the whole car at the moment I'm happy with it but don't want to get ahead of myself!
Im a bit stuck with the wiring to the fan I have earthed it but want to run an override switch (savage) as well as having it on the engine loom. Which
wire do I need to use on the R1 06 loom is it I think there are two connectors that look like fan plugs is it a case of taking one of these and
extending it? Also do I just join this wire and the wire from the savage switch?
Also any do's and dont's when it comes to the IVA man and wiring?
Thanks in advance Coopz

Don't know if the 06 is the same as the 03 but on mine I took the earth that goes from the relay to the ECU and just took a spur off that to my
switch, and from switch to ground.

The fan wire is a blue wire. There'll be 2 plugs the same with a blue and a black wire in them (cos the R1 has 2 fans).
Just extend one of the blue wires to the fan. I then wired a seperate fused feed via my override switch and spliced into the blue wire. I took the
earth from the fan to the chassis and didn't use the bike loom earth.
For the IVA...
Don't leave any wire uncovered. Use spiral wrap or split convoluted tube or tape on short bits.
Don't leave anything that could chaf directly on a wire.
Don't use self adhesive clips to secure the loom.
Do secure all wires at a max spacing of 300mm.

On mine, I wired a switch in parallel with the wire from the ECU to the relay, when i want to override the fan, this is switched to earth.
Keeps everything in the dashboard low draw too.

Theres no distinction between main or smaller looms in the regs. It's the self adhesive they don't like. EITHER PUT A POP RIVET THROUGH
THE BASE OR CLEAN OF THE SELF ADHESIVE AND BOND ON WITH sIKAFLEX.
Opps ... cap lock!
Lots failed SVA on this in the past.
