Starter and Ignition switch questions
I am currently using a universal wiring loom and ignition switch but i dont think that the wire supplied is thick enough to supply the coils with the
right amount of current. The coils are quite big and very demanding. I have had an issue with my coils that is intermittent.
The stock mazda ignition and wiring sends a 5mm wire direct from the ignition barrel to the coils. Some alarms fitted to rx7's can cause
problems when the ignition feed is cut and the alarm wire bypassing th circuit is too thin. This can cause the engine to die if not addressed.
I either need a heavy duty ignition barrel and replace the wire going from the power source to it and also the wire going from it on to the coils.
The other option is to leave all the wires in situ and run a new thicker power wire direct from the battery through a relay to the coils which uses
the original wire from the ignition switch as the signal to switch power to the coils.
I just wondered if the relay method would be ok on coils or if anyone had any idea's on what i can use. The car is mainly a track car so i dont
really need keys but i would like something a little more subtle than the big red isolator switch.
Any assistance much appreciated.

The relay route is probably the easiest way to go just use a good quality relay with a high amp rating so the contacts will not give any problems not
a cheap crappy one

I agree, a relay's the best solution in my opinion too.
