Reverse lights
Hi there,
Just to check if I am reading the IVA manual correctly!
Reverse lights are NOT compulsory
however, if they are fitted they must either only come on when reverse is selected OR be switch operated with a 'tell tale' light.
Is my understanding correct and is there an approved symbol for the 'tell tale'?
Thanks!
JC

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

I think for SVA it was optional, for IVA compulsory

You have to have a reverse light for the IVA. If its switch operated, then it has to have a tell tale light, but oddly the symbol is not listed under
section 33 "identification of controls". Weird?

Thanks guys, I'm wrestling with a wiring loom at the moment - removed 5 years ago and all the labels have gone crispy and fallen off!
Couldn't find the reverse light switch but on further reading, it is on the gearbox. Somewhere!!!!

if its a type 9 gearbox the reverser switch is on the drivers side (as located in the car) where the gear stick goes into the gearbox (you will see it
on the side).

Its note worthy that its needed for IVA, but not for MoT, so should you wish to wire one temporarily and remove post IVA, you could do.
