whats the best method of speed sensor pickup?
i need a speed sensor for my race technology dash 2 and was wondering the best way to do this? i have a bracket which is directly above the bolt heads
which bolt the prop to the gearbox which i could mount the sensor to,but it would be difficult to get a magnet into a bolthead and if it was a sensor
which picked up metal it would be counting 6 boltheads per prop rotation! whats the easiest way? or could i get a magnetised bolt with some kind of
nylon spacer to prevent them all becoming magnetised? as it would be easier to caliberate with 1 pulse per prop rotation i think! cheers

think they use the wheel speed sensor. I got my from demon.

I just used araldite to glue a magnet onto my propshaft near the handbrake. I glued a non-magnetic nut to the other side to avoid any loss of balance
and then just made up a bracket to hold the sensor in the required position relative to the propshaft magnet. Seems to work fine.
Just make sure you use a glue which isn't too brittle or the vibrations on the propshaft will shake it loose. Araldite rapid is quite good as it
is rubbery but very strong. Don't use JB Weld like I did to begin with as it has steel content in the glue which reacts with the magnetic field
and the glue won't stay where you place it!

Some sensors will pickup the bolts only and the speedo can be calibrated for any number of bolts or magnets

6-8 bolts is better than one, it'll give a bit more resolution.
I've put the one for my dash on the diff/prop bolts, works fine but needs its position tweaking.

I used the four bolts on my prop, works perfect and no chance of things falling off. You may need the correct sensor I think it's "hall
effect" if you want to count bolts and not magnets.

ABS ring and sensor would be the best option if you can get one to fit.
