Savage Switches.

This may be a simple fix but I haven't a clue how to go about it.....
I have a savage switch for my rear fog light that I've wired to turn the fog light on only when my lights are on...no problems there!
I can wire the LED to come on with my lights OR when the fog light is on but I want the LED to be dim when I switch my lights on and then glow at full brightness when I switch the fog light on. Can this be done?????

Welcome to the forum.

My guess would be not easily. And would there be an IVA problem due to the telltail light being on even if the lights arent?

I'm sure someone will be along soon to give you a better answer.

yes,... requires a pull up resistor and a diode from the side light +ve to the switch lamp, and then a diode from the fog lamp +ve to the switch lamp,...

Howard is correct but I have never tested it.

Essentially he is saying you need two seperate feeds to the led.

1) from the side light switch output, this has to have a diode to prevent feedback through your lighting circuit and a resistor to dim the LED slightly. I dont have a value in my head so get a few resistors and try a few.
2) from the fog light switch output, this has just a diode. The lacking resistor would allow for full brightness.

So when the side lights are switched on the fog light backing LED will come on the same as all the savage switch back lights but dimmer due to the inline resistor. The fog light will not come on due to the diodes in place.

When the fog light is switched on the direct link (via a diode) to the LED backing light will be full brightness.

The fog light switch will not turn on the side lights for two reasons.

1) The diodes
2) If you wire your headlights and fog lights correctly the power for these switches will come from the output of your side light switch.

I hope this helps. Mount the other parts remotly as fitting all of that on the back of the savage switch is certainly impossible!!!

Am I wrong in thinking there will be an iva issue or isn't an iva needed here?
