fog light wiring
hi all
still struggling with my electrics. next job is wiring fog light.
i know the fog light should only come on with main or dip beam but not sure how to wire into switch.
it is savage type switch which appears to have a small relay attached to it(might not be)
im sure someone will have wired one of these so just looking which wire goes where and how do i take a feed from the lights.

take the feed to the switch from the +12v wire which goes to the dipped beam/main beam (depending on youh headlight switch)
then the feed from the switch to the fog light.
the led illumination (the 2x center pins) can be wired however you want rally as lond as you have a telle tale to let you know the fog is on! for
example, my savage switches are illuminated as soon as i turn the side lights on, but when i put main beam or fog light on my dash symbols illuminate
to let me know.

Hello - I had the same problem, had a loom made by premier wiring, but it was to SVA not IVA spec - so I contacted Alan, and he described what I had
to do which is summarised in the following pic.

I've wired mine :- supply from low beam to 1 on relay, fog lamp to 2 on relay with link to A for illumination, -ve to B.

the saveage switch will switch the load though so no need for a fog light relay. just really need a supply from dipped beam to hazard switch

Daniel Mason AND Stevegough are actually both correct.
To be honest though IMHO I'd use Stevegoughs diagram because if a fault does develop in the fog light circuit then it will not blow the fuse for
the headlights.
Daniels idea to power from the headlight will work fine as well though so the addition of a fuse in the supply to the fog light (3amp if it is a
single bulb ) will safgaurd the headlight circuit.
It all comes down to which one is easier adapted to what wiring you have already done.
If it looks wrong it probably is wrong.

thanks guys.
am i right in thinking it will only need a live feed from main beam since they will stay on when dip beam is operated.
also, regarding the warning lights, i have a set of 6.
they each have 2 connections on. i presume one goes to the positive of the item, ie indicator and the other goes to earth.
is this also the case with the battery warning light

Unless I'm over tired, I dont think your main beam is supposed to be on when your dips are, you'd still be blinding people!
I think I took my fog power from sidelights.
