Wiring and relays
I have the following relays planned for my THIRD try at wiring. The other two times were rats' nests of misery, and fell apart after a short
period. I have made a new dash, and am going DigiDash, so that should help.
Headlights - 2 (hi and lo beam)
Indicators -1 (hazards go through this)
Clutch switch (necessary for inspection - clutch depressed, starter circuit activated) - 1
Wipers - 2 (for park function to work. I don't have a Lucas switch)
Reverse light (need dash switch; I can't get my transmission wires to work) - 1
Fog light - 1
Horn - 1
That makes 9, plus the 3 for the fuel pump, ECU, and something else I can't remember.
Is this a normal number of relays? Where do people put them all? I have a plate that holds the ECU under the dash, on which I have mounted a series of
junctions, which the chassis fuse box wires go to.
I have read all the diagrams, done the research, and they don't tell you how to wire them all together, without fires starting; they only tell
you how to do each circuit individually.
I am honestly going mental, after years of unsuccessfully wiring neatly. I am truly stumped, and not for lack of trying, I can tell you! I'm not
allowed to mention wipers around the house anymore.
Thank you chaps!
ps. where would a thermostatic fan switch go? I haven't seen anything that tells me for a CA18DET from a Nissan 200sx.

I think that sounds like a record for most relays ever used on a car Read this
for single relay headlight wiring and you shouldn't need relays for single bulb applications like fog and reverse light. Indicators have their
own flasher unit. Fan switch mounts in the radiator usually if you have one with the correct boss.
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Confused but excited.

Why not just use 25Amp switches?
Tell them about the bent treacle edges!

I tried a diy loom made from escort and sierra parts. Was far too complicated to sort out so I got one from premier looms.
Simple to fit and maintain. Only a thought. Cost £100 a few years ago Worth every penny,

I can get rid of a lot of them, then, from the sounds of it. That makes me feel better already!
Everything is wired to the relevent places, it is just the actual wiring under the dash that has me confused.

I have posted numerous times on here and elsewhere an article on how to rewire a car from scratch and how to fit relays, i could repost them if your
interested......however you really do not need all those relays. All relays are high power switches triggered from a low power switch's
sometimes you are the pigeon, most of the time the statue.

I spent most of the weekend cutting my engine and computer loom to fit properly. I had made the mistake earlier of not running all my chassis fusebox
wires through junctions. This has clarified a lot for me, and now it just remains to be seen if I can get it started again, before putting the new
dash on.
BTW, does anyone know how many pulse cycles per cylinder a CA18DET has? This is for programming the DigiDash tacho.
