4age Starting problem has me baffelled - help please
Hi,
Bit of an odd one thats got me confused.
Last night i jumped in the car and went to fill up with petrol (No problem)
Went to restart the car at the petrolstation, and nothing, tried jumping it, hitting starter and nothing, ended up getting recovered home by AA.
So today I took the starter off stripped it and cleaned it, all seemed ok, but with the motor mabe a little stiff? (dunno if this is normal)
Put starter back to gether on the car and it sounded like it would be ok with a Booster pack. Duely jump started no problems.
drove around for 30 mins, came home, turn off, and try to test a restart, and its the sounds like the staer still need a boost., put the pack on, but
it made no differance.........wouldn't turn over no start
Now this has left me confused, does this sound like the starter is dying?
advice greatly recieved.
many thanks

Does it even turn over?
If not does the starter click really quickly?
Track days ARE the best thing since sliced bread, until I get a supercharger that is!

just and just turns over, then doesn't.
surely it wouldn't be a dying battery, if it has the same symptoms when the Boster pack is connected?

Check the following:
1) The earth strap from battery to Body.
2) The earth strap from starter motor to bellhousing (or were ever you have earthed it).
3) Check you have got contact at all those points including the battery terminals.
Hopefully this will help, did the AA man test your battery?
Cheers Chris

2v is really not a lot.... That should still throw over the engine.

I thought 10.5 volts pretty much meant the battery was toast ????
