Electronic Throttle Pedal - Testing

Need to test an Electronic throttle pedal (fly by wire)

Haven't seen the pedal yet but is there a way of testing this off the car ?
If so How ?

Or does it need testing on the car with a scanner ?

First time i've had a fiddle with one of these as i'm used to cables

Thanks in advance for any help

It has to just be some kind of potentiometer sureley? (possibly a couple for redundancy)... so you should be able to use an ohmmeter on it.. It MIGHT take the feed from the pots and pass it into a digital converter to give a varying length pulse.... so you could need an oscilscope..without looking at the electronics im not sure.,

on my vauxhall i plug in the diagnostic thingy and it gives me a read out of the pot value and position, you can also re correlate it should you ever have to change it for a new one. can do all sorts of things like increase revs open windows turn lights on, check bulbs in warning lamps are working etc etc.

You should be able to read it via diagnostic socket. What vehicle ?

Its on a Renault Megane (Neighbours)

Throttle response ain't that smooth tbh and was also wandering if they suffer with the same Throttle body issue
as the Clio ?

Perhaps a scan would be a good place to start ?

Unlikely to be pedal, would suggest if like the clio the ecu is at the rear of inlet manifold check the wiring loom by tamper proof cover as it rubs though.
If its the late type 16v check the thottle body to inlet manifold as they come looose,

Normally Fly by wire throttle peda;s have two potetiometers and usually one is half the value of the other, You can see this on diagnostics screen wher the two voltages are shown and one is half the other.

You should be able to measure the resistance of each pot and check that they vary together and in a linear fasion.
