VDO sensor

Hi all,
Speedo stopped working (dial swings erratically and just shows a row of dots in the mileage window) fitted new sensor same problem.
There is a reset? button on the bottom of the dial which I have pressed but makes no difference.
Am I missing something basic.
I guess the distance between the sensor and the drive shaft critical and if so what should it be.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I could send pics if required
Regards
Eddie

Don't know the particular unit, but most sensors seem to be set to around 2 or 3 mm from the magnets, or bolt heads, or WHY. HTH Ray

If you've pressed the rest button then you will most likely need to re calibrate the unit ( It is an electronic one isn't it?).
Instuructions on the net and its very easy to do. You can even fine tune on the road to a satnav readout.

If it looks wrong it probably is wrong.
