Megablade rev counter help?
Hi All,
Really hope someone could help with this!
I have a Sylva Striker with a 919 fireblade engine. Up until now it's been running the standard bike instruments.
I've got hold of (via ebay) an unused westfield megablade (supposedly) rev counter. It's actually an eliott rev counter (14k max) but is
stamped westfield on the face. Today I installed it, and wired the tacho feed from the bike loom to the new tacho.
So to the problem - on starting, the rev counter works but is reading double what the engine is actually doing - ie 2k rpm at idle, 8k at 4k revs
etc.
My limited understanding of electrics tells me i need to use an alternative source for the rev counter....based on the fact there's two coils
with a wasted spark.... so to my question - I was planning on taking a feed from one of the wires to the twin coils instead of the bike tacho feed to
drive the new rev counter - am I correct? if so, any recommendations to which wire?
can someone tell me if I'm right in this?
Many thanks in advance!
Regards
Andy

If there isn't setup on this rev counter you can try to pick signal from one coil.

No there isn't a setup on this one - think it's pretty old!
Thanks for that though -you've confirmed my thinking so will try that!
Appreciate the input
