which way does a cbr900 or zx9 starter rotate?

Further to my other query making a kart starter, anyone know what way a cbr900 or zx9 starter motor rotates, hoping should be strong enough to spin a 100cc kart directly (not geared)

I think you will be disappointed if it's a 4 stroke engine. They only have to drive a 225cc cylinder over compression in the bike engine and they are hugely geared down. A two stroke is somewhat easier to turn over (lower compression) so it might cope.

Looking from the side of the engine where the starter mounts (left hand side when sitting on the bike) the crank rotates anti clockwise, from what I can remember, there is a reduction gear between the starter motor gear and the ring gear on the crank, if that is correct then the starter motor rotates anticlockwise when looking at it with the gear facing you.

This picture shows I am correct, but don't blame me if I'm wrong
