Morning Marc,

Welcome to Locostbuilders!
Put you approx location in your details, there may folk close who can help.

I'm using an MGZR 160 as a donor but with an emerald ECU, I can't help directly but I'll keep an eye on this thread though.

Any pictures of the project?

Liam Mc

As you may already know, the ECU (MEMS) is paired with the Immobilisor (5AS) and this is then paired with the key fobs.

I take it you want to remove the 5AS. This isn't the usual course of action because they're a relatively easy threesome to get going, but there are companies out there that will doctor your MEMS so that it's 5AS free. I don't know how much they charge but if you use the terms 5AS/MEMS in your googling you'll get off on the right foot.

Why don't you want the fob - seems like it could be handy to stop the car being pinched!

As already said the immobiliser feature of the ECU is closely tied to the 5AS unit or on later cars the Pektron unit and also the engine flywheel tooth pattern.

A pity you didn't ask before removing from the donor. Rover MEMS fitted to the MG MGF and MG TF comes in different versions with most early versions it can be disable by cutting a pin in the ECU BUT it has to be done with the immobiliser already turned off with the blipper.

There are however firms out there who can do this off car for about £35 to £60.
