Charge light and ETB dash

Hey all and a happy New Year!

I know this has been covered to some degree in many posts but my question is slightly different so please forgive me! I’m using an ETB dash which doesn’t need a wire from the alternator for battery light as it measures the voltage. However I will be needing a switched live to the D+ terminal to activate the alternator, from what I’ve seen in various post this should go through a load, as I don’t need the light should I fit a resistor in the circuit or is it okay to fit a wire direct from the ignition? Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

Regards

Daf
