Premier Wiring Loom diagram
I'm gonna spend next week to sort out my wiring...ehh, well, get started on it anyway. I have a premier wiring loom, but they haven't
supplied a diagram. Does anyone have it?!?! Might make the job easier (or so I hope; all I have now is a big bag of coloured spaghetti!).

Nope no drawing from premier- but it wasn't needed by me- comprehensive instructions on a paper booklet and a laminated wiring sheet come in the
pack usually. give them a call if they are missing- top bunch with great customer service!

Well, the laminated sheet and instructions are present, but it looks so complex and overwhelming........ I'll just give it a go next week, maybe
it's all self-explaining. If not, you'll hear from me again!
Thanks anyway.

When I got my Premier Loom I was NOT impressed...
unterminated ends, some plugs missing...
Then the penny dropped....
There are many variations of the Sierra (Your Donor Car), and they cant cater for them all.
Also when you build your car, you may have different lights or wiper motor etc.
SO... they have done a loom that caters for it all.
Lay the main loom out on a table.
Start at the Fuse box.
LABEL all the plugs as per the info... it tells you what they are in straight line starting at the Fuse box.
Then it starts to become clear.
The paperwork is all there, but they could have done the paperwork much better!.
You have plugs for most things, and the looms become self explanatory when you know which ones they are. Some plugs are not there.. When you have all
your switches (the 83b bit refers to the part number of the lighting switches on the steering column), and know where the brake switch is (hydraulic
or mechanical on the pedal) you send one of the forms back to premier and they send you the right bits / plugs. Not a bad idea, and keeps the costs
down by not sending bits you dont want in the kit. But by supplying the right bits later.
Fit the right plugs to the front and rear looms.
Also the Relays need a wire putting on, BUT this depends on which Lighting stalks you have on the steering column.. there are two sorts and they are
wired differently, and the relays need to match the wiring hence the wires hanging out.
Get a Haynes book and then you will have a diagram of sorts.
The wiring colours for the loom are shown in the paperwork, and what they are.
So at the end of each bundle you will know what each wire does.
I strongly suggest you sit down in the warm, with the loom on a table, and LABEL EVERYTHING. Or at least make a list for each bunch of wires and
what they are for. The when its fitted in the vehicle, you have a list of what each section and wire is for.
Its well worth the time sitting down and going through this exercise.
It will also familiarise you with the wiring and where everything is on the loom.
Believe me, as I have worked for BT for 35 years, and am not Phazed but 20,000 wires in just 5 colours sticking out at me!.
I didnt like what I saw when I opened the bag... but the more I worked on it, the more I realised what they had done... Its pretty good really. They
should have explained it a bit better.
Take your time, and label it all. Or at least label the bundles, and list the wires in each bundle and their function.
Also checking out the loom in the warm and dry, you will realize where other bits of the car should be located in relation to the loom / wiring.
Treat each circuit as an individual item.
AS you rightly point out, there are LOTS of wires. However, there are lighting, charging, engine, wipers, brake warning, horn, and other circuits...
treat them as lots of single circuits, not one MASS of Spaghetti!... it makes it easier.
Make sure you get good earths, ie scrape paint away to get to bare metal for each earth point.
Make sure you have a THICK earth from Battery to Chassis, then from Chassis to the Engine. Trying to push 300Amps through the throttle cable (no real
earthing done) as an earthwire to the engine. Its right by the Carb, and all that petrol!.. Woomph!!!! That would not be nice
Take care, and get it right. If you are really lost, then please consult a qualified Auto Electrician, as getting the Electrics wrong could end up
with a fire and the loss of the car or worse!
Good Luck... and take your time..
1. The point of a journey is not to arrive.
2. Never take life seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway.
Best Regards
Geoff
