Zetec - Coil & Tacho Wiring
Hi, can anyone give advise on hoe to wire the Tacho when using a Zetec. I am using a Dunnel management system that just plugs in, problem I have there
are two wires from the loom marked- Tacho and Coil. (take it these are for Distributors) but what do i need to do to get the Tacho/rev counter
working, sure this may have come up before when zetecs were installed
Cheers Steve

If I remember correctly from my old Dunnell ECU, these wires are exactly what they say they are. One to the zetec coil pack (wasted spark remember)
and the other to the tacho.
Remember, Dunnell only do zetec ECUs and no zetec has a dizzy, so none of the wires will be for that purpose.
To be honest, your best bet is to email Paul Dunnel and ask him - he was always very approachable when I dealt with him before

does the Dunnell loom not have a tacho wire ?
my GEMS unit loom has
Tacho
Coil
Throttle sensor
Crank sensor
+ve
earth
input for laptop for programming
I can't imagine the Dunnell unit will differ much.

If I remember correctly you should have two wires for the coil on a zetec ECU or it would fire all plugs at once, it fires two at a time in normal
use.
