Speedo Senders
Hello
I've got a smiths telemetrix speedo, Going to buy the sender, i have the choice of magnetic reed, or inductive with LED.
I've got a x-flow mated to a type 9, and english axel, Is either one going to be any better/less hassle to make work?
Cheers
David

You could try a reed switch mounted on a simple bracket, picking up on a small magnet epoxyed to a wheel - I have that setup and it works fine.
I've previously tried a setup on the prop of my Fisher Fury and this was a nightmare to do and wasn't that effective!

I had the same - major woes with the prop shaft method.

I have epoxy'd 4 magnets around one drive shaft flange. A reed switch picks up the signal. Works fine. But I guess with the English axle this is
not an option.

sell various sensors.
I have the
LTPSS199 - Universal model the design of the magnets allows the use of a zip tie for extra security
However the:
LTSS67HCC - Ford Speedohead - suitable for TYPE 9 Gearbox
may be of more interest to you.
I don't know how your speedo works, my VDO unit just counts pulses per mile and is easy to calibrate. I sure yours won't be too different.
