Auto dipping rear view mirror wiring?

I've managed to bag an auto dipping rear view mirror from a Golf (on Ebay) but I havent a clue how these are wired in.
I assume that there is the following:

1. Wire from built in light sensor
2. Positive battery
3. Earth
4. 'Lights on' positive battery

Has anyone got a circuit diagram by any chance?

Cheers,
Raz

yo man,

I wired one of these bad boys up in my scorp - was off a lexus but had 4 wires like yours.

I kinda fed all of the wires 12v gingerly and with the power going in one of the wires it kinda squeeled and stuff (!) then after a bit it turned out I only needed 2 of them - other 2 might be output to dipping side mirrors if it had them too.

I've fed mine permanent live and ground (cos that was what the overhead ligth console had enarby by and I was ina hurry/couldnt really be ar$ed)

Works well enough!

Did that help?!!

Geoff

Aha! So your's is active all the time? Presumably this means if you get flashed from behind (ooerr) during daylight the mirror will still dip? What about strong sunlight behind you?
