About £45 for a new 10"

I seem to be buying everything from him lately - Mark is a top bloke - can't recommend him enough

car solutions one is £40 + VAT for fan and the £25 +VAT for thermostat + p&p, so that works out even more expensive than DAX

Are you going to any kit car shows in the near future? If so, can you wait that long?

The reason for asking is that fans seem to be one of those items that the traders heap up and compete over prices with each other.

I got a really good fan a couple of years ago for around £20.

David

Raz's tip of the week:

Don't use the cable tie thingies that normally come supplied with new fans. They will eventually work loose and then vibrate themselves through the rad core and leave you stranded at 2 am on a Sunday morning - trust me on this one

Make a proper bracket - a permanent solution.

Cheers,
Raz

i made brackets out of off cuts of floor chequer plate. They bolted to the fixing on the Micra rad and allowed the fan to be ositioned nicely in front of the rad. I shaped the brackets so they didnt cause any obstruction.

Took some thinking about but work well.
I must admit that i found mounting the rad and fan to be one of the trickiest jobs. It was on 2nd attempt that i was happy with rad fixing. For bottom mounts I used some thickish 1" wide flat bar, bent it into shape and fitted rubber mounts. Rad sat onto the rubber mounts at the bottom and was held down with further straps at the top - again with rubber between rad and bracket. I just need to get them painted at some stage when i flush out the cooling system.

O/T - im amazed by how dirty the coolant has got, even after flushing out before filling. i must try and see if i can get some coolant system flush to try and clean it. This is my pre-blazing hot summer job!!! No rush then.
