Electric heater valve?
I want to have a switch on the dash to open an electrically operated valve to the heater matrix flow. Does anyone know of a suitable one?

Would the electrical one that opens the accusump do the job, not seen one but it operates on 12v and I would guess is 1/2" bsp fittings, could
you run into probs with air locks in system ?

Yep, that looks ideal for the job - except for the price - $100
I shouldn't have any airlock probs if it is bled properly although time will tell

how about a cheap manually operated ball valve under dash, that's what i used on the accusump........ ?

CBS do quite a nice plastic one which I could mount in the side of the tunnel next to my battery cutoff switch.
I would rather have a switch if possible though

Vacumn watervalve from a jag, loads of 12v options for switching air or gas (LPG solinoide maybe)

If you shut off the supply to the heater, usually it is best to bypass it to maintain the flow path.
While searching in the scrapyard I found that sierras and granadas with air con have such a valve (it looks like a mushroom). It is operated by
manifold vacuum, and there is a nice electric solenoid valve in the vacuum pipework.
So with a flick of the switch on my dash the flow either goes through the heater or bypasses it and returns to the pump.

Triffic ideas there guys - thanks to everyone.
The Ford valve would seem to be the best solution as it will bypass the heater matrix but still retain the flow (as has been suggested) and reduce the
chance of airlocks.
I will see how the auction goes and have a snipe at it

I just found a 'buy it now' Fiesta/ Transit valve for £15 so I snapped it up! Not sure why it needs 4 connections yet but I guess
I'll sort it out when it arrives.

Central heating systems use electrical valves - don't know if any are 12V though
