tin top ecu probs
hi all iv just accuired a fiat bravo 1.8hlx r reg. i had it for free from my work as it has a ecu fault or something along those lines.
the car was originally in a fiat dealer with the problem. they said it was ecu fault, customer did not wanna pay the silly money they was asking (620
for ecu alone) so in the end the car came into my work as a part ex/deposit.
now what im asking for is a bit of advise from some unlucky soul who has worked on these cars before. i understand that its not a simple secondhand
ecu swap job as the keys need coding, how ever i do have all the keys which is a miracle for a car of this age!!
any help is much appreciated as this car is too clean to scrap! low milage too!!
thanks rob

The keys on the fiats were coded to the ecu so that if you lost them you could only get replacement keys by replacing the ecu.
So if you're replacing the ecu from a knackered one I'd guess if you had the keys for it you'd be fine

there was a article in car mechanics weekly about someone who could recode the ECU for about 150 notes iirc
If it aint broke, uprate it
if it is broke, uprate it

If its like the punto i had, replacing the ECU and keys(from the same car) did the trick
