Ignition Problem

My blade engined Indy has decided it didn't want to play today. Thankfully just after an hour's hooning around the lanes here, when I was putting it away. There's no power to any circuit connected to the ignition. It turns over but obviously won't fire. Given this will be my first ever (in my life) stab at diagnosing an electrical issue I'm wondering where to start? In what order to check things? And what tools do I need?

Any tips guys?

If it turns over, then there must be power in the battery. After that it's check fuses but you say "any circuit connected to the ignition" and I wonder if you would have a single fuse controlling ALL these circuits.

You probably have a relay to connect power to the ignition controlled circuits so this would be suspect too. If it's plug-in, it may have worked loose.

A cheap multimeter.say £5.00 from Maplin, etc is a very useful tool....just follow the wiring logically and look for 12V.

TVM. It was all too much for me this morning. Needs more time devoting to it. I gave up and went wakeboarding. The car is still broken.
