Cutting and splicing

I need to start sorting my loom soon on the ZX12-r I am gonna leave my current light loom alone and have a seperate one for the engine.

Does anyone have any tips for doing this as its gonna be a big job and im sure im gonna get confused along the way.

I need to buy some wire but i not goona be able to get all the different variations of colour that the loom currently has, anyone just use the same colour wire with the original wire either end?

My end goal is to have a next neat loom so am planning cutting out anything thats not needed.

Any help or ideas greatly appreciated

You will be fine, you should be able to get all the colours you need from www.vehiclewiringproducts.co.uk but even if you can't make sure you note down what colours you use for what.

Take it slow, follow the bike wiring diagram and remove the bits you don't need and shorten or lengthen the wires where required.

Rich.

I would just visit a scrapyard and get a few looms from modern cars, they have a good variety of colours and sizes of wire and it is usually the high spec thinwall type if you remove it from the engine bay area.My local yard charges next to nothing for looms .It is also possible to find good reusable multiplugs, relay bases etc.
