O/T SEAT Ibiza 1.8 16v GTi(sorry!)
This is just a quicky and you'll either know the answer, or you won't!!
I reversed the car up the drive this very afternoon and it started first time and ran fine. I then dipped the oil and it was a bit low so I climbed
aboard the other car and went to town to get some oil. Upon my return, the car was busted. It fires for a second and then stops. If I try again
straight away, it just churns over and there is no spark. If I leave it for 5 or so seconds it will fire again for a second or so. I have determined
that its the immobiliser at fault. Or the key reader part of the immob at least. Having spent a short time on the SeatCupra forums today it has become
apparent that it is a common fault if you have two keys with chips in (hhhmmm, chips) on the same fob, or,as I did, you leave the keys in the
ignition.
To fix the problem, I simply take the car along to my local Seat dealer and they will reprogramme my keys/the immob.
As my local Seat dealer is over an hours drive away if the car drove, and it will cost me money, does anyone know of a shortcut to get me back on the
road??
Cheers.
