Headlight Bulbs
My MK currently has pretty dim headlights, looking at them they're 45/40w so I'm not surprised.
I believe the bulb type is p45t asymmetric like these ones: -

Is there any way I can increase the brightness without swapping the entire lamp units? I'm guessing I have to have that shape of bulb for beams
etc as it'll be matched to the lens/glass etc, so what are my options? I don't seem to be able to see any similar bulbs with a higher
rating.
It's a bike engined car if that makes any difference - could the builder have chosen these ratings because a bike alternator won't support
higher ratings?

Be careful when increasing the load on the alternator. My old ZZR100 had these bulbs and when I sold it, the buyer uprated them to halogen bulbs and
promptly burned out the alternator (which are very expensive)

its just the lens used.
search for H4 lenses..
or pirate duplo ones.

are those bulb halogen type?
I've read that the bowls & lenses are shaped differnt for the 2 types fo bulbs.
you can get more efficient bulbs see

now the rating is the same so does that mean they draw the same amps but more light or give out same light but for less amps; the former I suspect.
Make sure that you bulbs are wired as directly to the battery as possible i.e., no poxy switches in between; use a realy;
the headlamp stalk on ladrovers has small contacts that lose you a votl or so (I've measured it) maybe you have something similar; and that
result is less power to bulb = less light.

When I had my FJ1200, the lights on that were pretty crap, so I went to the local bike shop, and got a Zenon bulb.
That was crap too, so I went and got a 120/90w, and stuck a couple of 55w spots on (with main beam).
Night turned to day

These are ECU bulbs from the 1960s and pre-date the H series bulbs. Rarely seen now, BUT at sVc we have some specialist halogen bulbs with the base
you have, so give me a call on 08 456 581 251.
