Rear light mounting.

Do the rear lights have to be mounted vertical (as the rear fogs do) or can they be following the curve of the rear wing.Without drifting from the viewing angles?

Only the fog (and reverse lights??) need to be vertical.

I checked my sva manual last night.

couldnt see anything about reverse lights.

from memory, the following :

fog light must be 250mm from ground at lowest point minimum, and be in car centre or towards the offside. It must be at 90 degrees to the ground plane.

Other lights dont have to be vertical, but must meet viewing angle requirements, and as a rule must be no more than 400mm from the side of the car and at least 350mm above the ground.

all from memory so dont hold me to it!

as i was aware there isnt any requirement for a reversing light on a car, the mot station wont check it as part of your MOT this i do know

and not all vehicles have em think honda goldwing (admittedly a bike, but it has a reverse gear, run off the starter motor) it has no reverse light, or think land rover prior to the ones now with the bigger rear fog and indecator lenses fitted

its probably one of those things manufacturers put on in case the law changes, like child seat points in most modren cars, after all its easier and cheaper to put it them in there to use from the beginning of a production run, than than it is to pay a design team to work out how to add it later.

but this is all from memory, so dont go quoting me in any government reports

You don't need a reverse light or indeed a gear - ask the BEC boys!

Cheers

Note to all: I really don't know when to leave well alone. I tried to get clever with the mods, then when they gave me a lifeline to see the error of my ways, I tried to incite more trouble via u2u. So now I'm banned, never to return again. They should have done it years ago!

I'm going to go with mounting the rear lights on the cuvre of the rear wing(as per Dax Rush picture). They will fall with in viewing angles'If not I'll lower and raise the front of the car on hydrolics!
