Alternator Wiring - is it broken?

Hi,

Just been finishing off my electrics and come across a major problem. I'm using a Micra alternator with the main post and 2 spades. I have a live feed from battery, through cutoff switch and via starter to the main post. When this is connected I get 0v on the live feed from after the cutoff switch, and nothing on the car works. When I disconnect the main post of the alternator I get 12v on the live feed and everything else is live. This is without the engine running, just the ignition on.

Can anyone help?

James

It'd be beneficial to know more about the cut of switch wiring as well. Do you mean that you've got 12v at the battery side of the cutoff but not at the alternator side??. More info is required to answer this one I think. Post as much info as you have or remember please.

If it looks wrong it probably is wrong.
