DVA means direct voltage adapter. It's just another name for a peak reading voltmeter. Fluke probably do the best ones but a number of budget
models are probably ok for most applications. Mine even has a laser infra red thermometer which can read surface temps from 20 feet away ..... which
is nice

Does the Extech definitely have a peak voltage mode?
The datasheet only mentions a true RMS AC measurtement and MAX
Hold on the 450 which is not the same as true peak detection (a peak detector will store the maximum input voltage on a capacitor ready to be
digitised by the meter. A MAX Hold function simply displays the maximum value that has been sampled, but voltage transients between samples will be
missed.
