Lucas wiper motor with 45deg bend

Just trying to fit my wiper motor for the first time and was looking in the build manual and it says that the motor should be fixed at a 45deg angle to the outer tube where the wheel boxes fit.....Can't I fit this as straight as possible....is there a reason why it has to be 45deg angle.....what has other people done...

I think they probably say that in order to make things fit. As long as it'll fit there's no reason why the tube cannot come straight out of the motor box and also be straight between the rocker boxes. Infact, doing this way will result in less friction between the threaded-cable and the outer tube....

Tim - if you can fit it without a bend then do it, as the previous poster said it will reduce the friction, give you a faster wiper sweep and the motor will have less load on it.
Please ensure the drive rack tubing is steel - don't ever use copper tube.
