speedo sensor pickup
I have a vdo eledtronic speedo fitted and am about to buy the sensor from ETB, they sell a disc that fits between the prop and the diff that has 15
holes are the amount of holes important as i can get a disc punched out at work.

probably . Most electronic speedometers are designed to count pulses that correspond to the number of wheel rotations per mile.
This number varies as tyres are available in different sizes.
The most common place for picking up the signal is using the original gearbox take off point or the propshaft.
So then either the speedo gear ratio or diff ratio comes into the equation hence
a smart design would have a large pulse input range.
If you know the range, you can then determine how many holes your disc needs so that the speedo works for the full range of speeds.

in fairness most VDO speedo are programable.
just have a look on there website or speedycables website for loads of information on how to fit and set them up.
worst case you can use a speedo healer like me

My VDO speedo runs off 6 magnets glued onto the nearside drive shaft (IRS)
sender came from merlinmotorsport.co.uk with the magnets so went with it,,as said if its programable you must be able to adjust to suit.

Calibration might be a little easier to do with a larger number of holes but as nib says, it is probably a variable which can be changed in the
setting up menus.

I think i will just get one punched with 15 holes as like nib said it is programable and ETB sell them with with the disc so i will be able to adjust
it to suit.

Don't forget that the bolt holes on the prop which will be used to sandwich the plate are not at 90 degrees to one another
