VDO Gauge connections?

Having done a search, found zilch, here goes!

Has anybody any clues as to how to wire up older type VDO gauges? And, yes, I have looked up wiring instructions on the ETB site.

Unfortunately, my gauges do not match the example in ETB's data sheet. My water temp gauge has "G" and "+", with the usual earth connector.

The fuel gauge has "+" and "S", plus what I conclude must be earth. Both earth connectors are positioned in between the other two connectors, which appears to be the norm.

By my reckoning, the live +tive ign supply goes to the "+" connector; sensors will connect to "G" and "S".

Have I got that right?

TIA
Dick
