Sierra Column - Differences

Hi All,

This concerns differences in Sierra steering cols. Allegedly, there are 2 main differences :-
1: Horn control on column stalk,
2: Horn control on steering wheel centre.

My problem - seems my col has both types of control. So which type is it? Need to identify this very clearly, to be able to order the correct version loom.
Any advice out there?

Work-in-Progress: Changed to Zetec + T9. Still trying!!

I have a Haynes Sierra manual for 1982-1989 and all versions covered there only have the central sterring wheel horn push. Maybe it was changed on later models to a stalk switch and you have a column with a earlier wheel fitted ?

I have just had a look at part of the Sierra owners club website here
http://www.crustworld.co.uk/sierra/techspec/index.html

even the 1992 models still have the steering wheel horn push, so it would appears that it maybe a rogue assembly.

Have you any pictures that you could post for comments ?

Hi,

I bought a steering wheel from a C reg 2.0i S which was nearly the same as the cosworth 3 spoke type minus the leather and the centre horn push. Although it did had provision for making it a centre wheel push horn. The car had a stalk push as standard. MY 83 xr4i and 2.0l ghia were steering wheel push.

The premier loom has provision for both types. I can't see a problem if your ordering a loom though. The stalk push just directly connects a live feed out the switch to the horn, the centre push is in-directly relayed IIRR.

Personaly I would just pick up a stalk push and get that version!

Cheers
