ESC2 with no carb stepper
I've decided out of the pinto 3 or 4 ignition modules lying around that the bright shiney ESC2 would be the best bet . I've go the smaller
ESC2 from a 1.8 pinto, and EDIS4 (no use without megajolt) and a points based dizzy with I havn't got a clue about.
I've plopped in a bosch hall effect dizzy but found that the boat anchor is old enough to not have a stepper motor on the carb. Would it be a
problem if I just ignored that and blanked the carb stepper plug or would it be better to look for a stepper based carb?
I'm pretty much at the state of if this doesn't work then then I'm getting a sledge hammer out my indy its turned into a money pit
fighting the build and not an enjoyable project.

The stepper motor type carb will cause more hassle than its worth and is not really needed if you have an old type carb.Cant you find a points type
dizzy or one with the sensor and small amp module?
If you wanted to go to megajolt I have a spare new Megajolt available , if you have the edis already you would just need to fit a trigger wheel and
pick up .

I think you will find the bosch dizzy has centrifugal advance and is for the inductive amplifier and not ESC2.

Slightly OT but what does the stepper do on the carb?
I have a Weber DFTH 32/36 2.0 pinto carb kicking around the garage & the stepper has been removed.
I keep thinking of binning it but it might be of use to someone.
I'm sure a guy told me F2 stocks use them?
I used to be apathetic but now I just don't care.

OK, I'm Confused now.
I've got 3 dizzys. The one I got with the pinto looks points/inductive/don't know. It just has 1 wire comming off it going to what I
assume is a diode pack or something, what looks like a small capactor near the rotor arm and also the small chamber for a vacum advance. It came with
a shopping bag full of EDIS4 + an ally boxed ESC2. I havn't got a clue what the missing bit is I need for this setup. The Haynes book of lies is
rubbish for this.
The other dizzys are both the same part number. One from a 1.8 pinto which had the smaller ESC2 with the bolt on connector.
One option would be to plumb the 1.8 dizzy straight into the 2.0 engine. The 2.0 engine has the pre stepper motor webber carbs.
I'm just getting very fed up at the moment with the engine. It seems to be a real pain the ass. I've still got the old 1.8 engine and
I'm tempeted to transfer the cut sump to that and scrap the 2.0. Its just turning into a money pit buying bits that turn out don't work or
are wrong.
I think what I need is a set of 2.0 stepper carbs then I can just plod on. Or shove the 1.8 carbs on it and see what happens.
Either that or the lot goes on ebay as another failed project.
