Horn push for steering wheel

Another obscure question!

I plan to put a horn push button in the middle of my steering wheel. Unfortunately I have an Astrali wheel, and they've been out of business at least 5 years. I used to have an Astrali wheel centre with horn push, but it was made from some plastic that seemed cheap and nasty - I think I binned it.

The space in the middle of the wheel is too shallow to take a push-button from Maplins or SVC.

So - I might have a go at making my own, which shouldn't be too hard (he says, hopefully). I have a lathe to make the round bits, and a big chunk of plastic. All I need to do is to make a connection between the slip ring in the boss to earth - and the whole steering column is connected to earth, so there's no shortage of places to make a connection!

Has anyone tried to do this?

Anyone got any bright ideas?

any photos? just thinking the likes of momo and sparco (and a few others) have the same size centres, maybe one will fit yours too?

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!
