speedo sensor rage

Morning all

I'm officially stumped. My earlier posts regarding the location of my speedo sensor resulted in me relocating the sensor. It was counting pulses off the diff bolts (qty4) and apart from the bracket problems it seemed okay. As the new location doesn't use diff bolts and is narrower I used two thin strips of metal araldited to the prop.

When driving the 1 mile to calibrate the speedo it starts off counting pulses fine and then stops, second attempt only got to 90 pulses then stopped.

So now I can't even calibrate the speedo as the sensor doesn't seem to want to count each pass of the metal strips. There is an LED on the top which lights each time it's pulsing but when the pulses stop registring it comes on permently.

I can't believe how much driving time I'm losing out on due to something so trivial but I'm completely stumped as to why it's not working.

Any ideas of things to try please?

Cheers
Nigel

Sorry, but I can't remember, have you passed SVA and got the car road legal?

If you have, fit your sat nav to the dash and worry about the speedo later?

Failing that, what type of speedo are you using and what sensor (manufacturers names etc). Have you spoken to their helpdesk? It sounds like it is counting up to a point and then no further, which sounds a lot like a calibration setting. Count from 1-100 then press a button?

Cheers

Mike

you know best but I am pretty sure you have passed SVA so the speedo is there to stop accumulation of points.

get down to halfords/tesco/ebay/aldi and buy a bike speedo.

fit and drive.

then look into finding out what is wrong with you car speedo.

either the speedo is duff or the sensor is duff or wiring between the two.

not sure what your knowledge of electricals is like but you need to test each one.

what make/model speedo is it and what sensor?
