slowing down the indicator flash

Hi all.
I have my first MOT on my car this weekend and im starting to get paranoid!
Im slowly checking stuff to make sure there is nothing obvious or stupid to fail on.

I think my indicators flash faster than the 60-120 flashes a min. I know about electronics especially in cars. I think that if I put another bulb in the circuit each side it will slow it down. Is this true?

I have some odd resistors laying around (dont know the resistance of them) I tried to put one of them in line but it work.

Any locost ideas on how to slow a flash down. I have not found the relay yet so i cant give any info on that.

They are all bulbs and not LED.

Thanks

biz

Higher wattage bulbs will slow things down, probably too much current in the circuits 21 Watt per bulb, to add resistors.

Yes- just insert a bulb into the circuit on each side.... I'd do it in the engine bay personally just because there's room and lots of access...

You can fit a different relay rather than mess about with resistors. The electronic relays advertised for LED bulbs flash at the correct rate regardless of the bulbs fitted.

Cheers for the info. Ill try a more intelligent relay first as long as I dont have a funny plug that dont allow for it.

Ill check the wattage of the bulbs to. Is it that high wattage makes it flash faster or slower. My instinct is high watt is a slow flash.

Last resort is hide a bulb!!!

Yep, higher wattage slows the flash, 12v 21w is the norm for indicators.
