what tape for loom
I am tidying loom up have removed old insulation tape to find all wires are sticky. I know i need loom tape but is it self adhesive or not. if not how
does it stay on.

Just use spiral wrap its way easier

When I used the proper non-adhesive loom tape, I used self-amalgamating tape to seal the ends and stop it unravelling.

Or a zip tie, or shrink wrap.
It is largely supposed to "stick" to itself though

I once saw a works MK1 Escort that had it's obviously special loom covered in a black woven like material...Made my onions go green mate!

I used RS harnessing tape, ever so slightly sticky. It doesn't leave any glue behind when you take it off, it's easy to apply being
slightly tacky too. You don't need to seal the ends if you don't want, and it's matt finish so it doesn't look like bondage
tape! 
Oh and it's about 52p for a 20m roll!

That's what I used whenever a wire or bunch of, exit the loom, it looks well nice, even if I do say so myself

the electrical wrapping tape is good stuff, colth looking, sticks to itself like poo to a blanket, but can be peeled away and doesnt leave that
horrible sticky gunge like insulation tape
nice matt black cloth/hatched pattern finish
I have used it to wrap wiring, and also the handlebars on one of my bikes
heavy is good, heavy is reliable, and if it breaks, hit them with it

Split conduit , cheap , looks better than tape, easy to use, available in loads of sizes and can wires can be removed /installed without having to
unwrap the whole loom

I second that - if you need to break it open for diagnostics, putting it back will only cost you a small cable tie
If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation

Yeah, best for taping up looms, is loom tape!
A lot of it is non-adhesive but i would use a one with a light tack backing, which as said, you can then seal but just taking 5-6 turned round at the
end and it means if its damaged it unravels slightly slower.
That said, often, i just us insu tape!

I just stripped and rewrapped a loom in my RX7 engine bay. I used loom tape from CBS as it'll run near the radiator so anything tacky will just
end up melted or messy. I didn't use split tubing as I wanted to fit the loom to some tight corners. I found I could wrap the wires tighter and
shape then more with the loom tape. I still use split tubing for extra protection against edges or protecting say only a couple of wires runing to the
engine.
