Intermittent Misfire -

Hi,
I am suffering from an intermittent misfire on my zetec odd this is once I turn off the ignition and restart the engine it seems fine.

I have been through all of the electrics and replaced the coil pack, HT leads, and connectors plugs and the edis box.
The set up is;

silver top zetec
EDIS box - coil pack
Stock injectors and ford injector manifold
Megasquirt 2 ecu

Suggestions welcome on what to test next would be welcome.

Thanks

Frank

I had similar issue on my Megane R26 it was an injector fault, I replaced two of the injectors and the issue went away.

You can get them cleaned as it is the spray pattern that is effected and the mixture doesn't burn properly, you can't test for this it has to be done in a specialist machine

see here link

Or you can just soak them overnight in carb cleaner - works a treat.

Dad had this a few years back on his silver top zetec'd mondy.

Problem was a little convoluted but the cam cover gasket was leaking down the spark plug 'oles and the oil sitting round the plugs worked its way up the leads and degraded them - maybe contributing to a split insulator on one of the plugs aswell.

So maybe a quick look at the plugs, leads and gasket?

Is it a random miss when idling or under snap acceleration, or driving under steady throttle ? Is it engine cold, hot or both ? Also I know its intermittent but when it does it is it regular, as in the same cylinder ?
