horn not working

when i bought my mk indy the horn was not working, the horn is fitted and has wires attached but at the steering wheel end just the 2 sprung connectors to go onto the sliprings(also not fitted) but these do not work when connected also no horn button installed on the steering wheel,i have now replaced the steering wheel and horn switch and have fitted sliprings to the back of the boss so i know this is all ok but still nothing,im thinking of just rewiring the complete horn can i get away with out fitting a horn relay or do i need one? standard sierra horn sliprings ect and omp horn button.

generally air horns need a relay and I would guess that a horn from a sierra etc would not have one fitted but obviously both need a fuse!!!

I used the standard Sierra horn, but wired it to the surplus washer push on the Sierra stalk so used a relay to protect the switch. If you're going to re-wire it, I'd be inclined to use a relay with a fuse in it to be sure not to damage the horn push.

Is it wired as switched earth? ie, live to horn and return to switch, then to earth. If so check the column is earthed.

It's a Vicky green sierra loom so I think it is a live circuit.

I fitted a sports type wheel to my Lada (Yes Lada) and lost the option for the horn as the boss was different.

I used the existing wiring, traced it behind the dash, then mounted a dash horn switch.

Works really well, it so well disguised when I feel inclined to blast someone, I switch my headlights on or off..

if you raise your tongue almost to your pallet, and make an "i" sound ("eee", and close your lips once in a while, you will make the appropriate sound - generally two in a row does it. Do this really loudly when urgency requires.
