S

I have just bought a westfield with a VDO electronic speedo that is not working.
All new to me, can anyone tell me where the sensors are likely to be fitted and what they look like.
Any advice on recalibration would be appreciated.
Thanks and regards
Eddie

It could be a sender on the gearbox
It could be on the prop flange, probably the rear one.
It could be on a rear diff flange.
It could be on a rear wheel hub.
It could be a Hall effect sensor or a Variable reluctance sensor or a magnetic switch that sees passing magnets

If it has independant rear suspension the sensor is likely to be to the right of the differential. It is a threaded cylinder with a cable coming from one end. The sensor will detect the heads if the bolts on the inner driveshaft flange. it may need the distance between the sensor end and the bolt heads adjusting, via 2 lock nuts. The distance should be 1mm.
If your car has a live axle the sensor may detect the prop-shaft bolt heads at the diff input flange.

Roll I managed to roll my Locost end over end not sideways and walked without a scratch. Investing in some new Y fronts though.

At least you don't need to worry about the sensor now.
