Coil Pack Check & VR Sensor Wiring

Is there a way of checking the Ford Coil Pack (pre 98) also when using a coil pack with Ford EDIS 4 on a Mega Jolt install is the 12v supply to the EDIS module a permanent 12v (i.e a wire straight from the battery via a fuse) or does it have to be an ignition switched supply.
Also ive read about the vr sensor having polarity and wiring it the wrong way round stops megajolt from working, does any one know the right way to wire it, i'm using a vr sensor and shielded 2 core wire (blue and red) bought from Trigger wheels

Don't feed it a permanent feed, but it does need to be on during cranking. I feed mine from the same feed as my fuel pump relay. As for polarity, if it doesn't work, swap it It won't work the wrong way round, but you won't damage it either. You can test it without the MJ there, just wire it all up and start cranking. If it is correct, you'll get sparks at 10 BTDC. Once you get sparks, then think about connecting up the fuel and MJ. The EDIS set up is just about impervious to incorrect wiring. I lost count of the number of mistakes I made when I put it in, and it's still alive.

Regards,
Dave
