who installed "Daytime Runningh Lights" yet
Hello Everybody,
For the moment, the build of my MNR VortX, is in that stadium that I'm making plans for the wiring loom.
Particulary, I'm looking for some information about "daytime running lights"
This is what I did read on SVC's website:

the main vehicle lights are turned on, these DRL / NRL lights will switch its light output to an E marked reg. 7 night time styling lamp
brightness.
Measuring approx. 196mm by 22mm, the slim compact design enables the lamps to be fitted discreetly to most cars. With a fitting kit and simple to
follow instruction the lamps can generally be fitted within an hour depending on the vehicle. Each lamp unit contains 18 ice white LEDs for !
maximum light output from minimal energy consumption.
Has somebody installed those or other "DRL's"? Any information is very welcome!

as yet they are not required. can't think of anyone who's fitted them, and is not needed in our latest IVA manual. what they have written
there is more to do with the manufacturers like ford, vauxhall/opel, audi, mercedes, but not us, yet...

not required for iva but if you fit them they will be tested and have to meet the requirements in the iva manual. if you just like the look of them
iva the car first then fit them after.
Anything With Tits or Wheels Will cost you MONEY!!

Thanks for the tips. I think I not gonna install DRL's because they are not required. Misleading advertising of SVC 
This means one concern and some wires less ...

You'll wish you had fitted them when the change the rules before you IVA your car!

I hope to bring the car to the IVA in may or june.
I hope they don't change the rules that soon...

just a little something to cheer you, if they do change before you bring it over to IVA it - when they last changed the rules, it was the SVA and it
cost £190 - overnight they changed it to the IVA (the test was basically unchanged) they upped it to £450. Not that they are likely to do that
again.........

there has been quite a few revisions to the IVA manual since then though... nothing major, and can't think of any off the top of my head, but
the manual has had about 4 or 5 revisions since IVA took over
since march 09, there's been 4 revisions to the anti theft decive section alone. fairly major one, you used to have to have an immobiliser
installed with certificates, which you don't anymore, since june 09, DRL could just as easily be changed from optional to mandatory

As from 7th Feb 2011 all cars and light commercial vehicles manufactured after that date must have DRL's.
The question is, will this affect all of us taking IVA test now, just those going for a new reg, or none of us?
Thinking of fitting them now, will be easier than retro fitting them, and on a 7 may be a good idea anyway.

none of us. yet. the IVA manual still says they are optional, but obviously, keep an eye on the manual as it could change at any time

I may have mis-interpreted what you mean, but just to say, the IVA is unrelated to what plate you're going for.

Only that if you go for a new reg, could that be interpreted as manufactured after the 7th Feb, and therefore need DRL's, whereas, an age
related/Q plate doesn't?

no, becuase the IVA manual is still the same. the reg isn't an issue at IVA, the tester doesn't care what reg you'll get or are
going for, thats only done by DVLA after the IVA trest
the IVA manual still says OPTIONAL
